Re: toki pona in chinese/kanji?
For my narrow use case I would be typing roman letters in one box (not the pinjin or romanji-Japanese equivalents), clicking transliterate and then pasting into toki lili or twitter. A touch screen app would be handy for this sort of typing though. Ah yes, a little application that could translate ...

Re: toki pona in chinese/kanji?
This all starting too sound much more complicated than just typing the Latin letters. Going through either set of board jigglings and adding the need then to retranslate the result into tp just about ruins the whole scheme (lovely as it is) for me. Even a 12 x 12 matrix with tp words in the nodes a...

Re: toki pona in chinese/kanji?
母 -yes this is better/more traditional and has a nice etymology and probably extends to Japanese better I'm guessing. 媽/妈 is a sound loan (you know the old example of getting Chinese tones wrong and calling someone's mother a horse). The one nice thing is the sound loan translates to toki pona too. ...

Re: toki pona in chinese/kanji?
suggestion: leave a as is, and (probably) o for separators i suggest ~ @ ^ * and (probably) ! I thought about keeping single characters the same, but some input systems are really troublesome to switch between. On my phone it is much easier to just press "a" and get 啊 than to switch betwe...

Re: would a toki ponan get the joke?
-jan Like, sina lukin taso e ijo lon tomo li olin anu seme? Can you "olin" toki pona?
-mi olin e ilo suno.
-sina olin kin ala olin kin e ilo suno? sina toki taso e ni anu seme?
mi olin e ilo suno. mi olin e ilo suno.
Re: sike waso
We still have the problem of whether 'seme' can be a verb meaning "to ask", since it already has a verb use as a question 'ona li seme' "he is/did what" and even in the transitive '"sina seme e mi' "You're gonna do what to me?" Not obvious it can't be both (contex...

Re: Thank god I'm Pretty (Emilie Autumn)
Since child is sefetly covered by 'jan lili' I think stranger (one that had just been met) could be 'jan sin', at least within the tp philosophy of subjective experience.

Re: toki pona in chinese/kanji?
Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I'm probably only 70% sure of the choices I've made. Any other input (or one from the 日本語 perspective) would be welcome.
I'm curious to see what kind of pidgin Chinese you end up with when you translate tp into these characters.
