母 -yes this is better/more traditional and has a nice etymology and probably extends to Japanese better I'm guessing. 媽／妈 is a sound loan (you know the old example of getting Chinese tones wrong and calling someone's mother a horse). Since child is sefetly covered by 'jan lili' I think stranger (one that had just been met) could be 'jan sin', at least within the tp philosophy of subjective experience.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I'm probably only 70% sure of the choices I've made. Any other input (or one from the 日本語 perspective) would be welcome.

I'm curious to see what kind of pidgin Chinese you end up with when you translate tp into these characters.
