Yup! linear system of powers of ten (not too happy with that last bit)
No old expression I could find for triangle, square was selo pi poka tu tu, which is better for rectangle, for which, again, there is no word in the list.
You are right about vocab growth; any additions have to be on the side -- for reading characters, say. But there is bound to be slippage.
