Comments / corrections / improvements please.
What I was trying to say follows.

Yesterday I went to a meeting at my town hall.
A few people spoke.
A builder wants to build a new office building.
He wants to keep dangerous liquids at the new building.
The future building is next to the town water supply.
The town officers must agree for the building permit.
The man must build according to the building code.
The man must write the names of the dangerous liquids on paper.
The man must give the list to the town officials.
The man was satisfied.
The people of the town were satisfied.

Here's what I translated before I looked at the English:

"Yesterday I went to a group discussion in a building in my city.
Many children talked. (lili has to modify jan, jan mute lili = jan lili mute), jan pi mute lili would be better.
Work men wanted to create a new factory (or office building).
Men want to hold the bad water in this building.
The prospective building is a pool (... uh reservoir).
People of the city drink this water.
The government wants to feel ... copy-to work page.
The men want to work with the good way (maybe daoism)
The men want to write the names of bad water on the pages.
The men want to give these pages to they major of the city.
The men like this.
The city likes this. "

It looks like there will be a vote or bond-referendum on a municipal water treatment plant?

Okay, read the translation. I think to get this, I would have needed to know that the liquids are potentially life threatening/poisonous, whereas sewerage is mostly stinky. I missed the various agents. jan esun, jan pi tomo mi and jan lawa pi tomo mi would have helped distinguish who the players are. I thought the building was going to be built by the government. jan pali covers both government workers and private workers, whereas jan esun, or jan pali esun would probably only be read as private sector workers.

'kama Jo e Ike sijelo'
'poka tawa telo pona ' or something like that; I don't think 'poka'' takes it's complement when a verb (doesn't mean " near" or " beside " as a prep anyhow).
ante la ni li pona sama tenpo ali.
