Question: does the phrase following 'tawa ni:' have to be a complete sentence?
Thanks.
What I was trying to say is below.

I have a small boat (canoe).
It is aluminum.
I move the boat using a wooden paddle.
I want a big boat.
In the future, I wish to build a boat.
I will move the boat using the wind.
I will build it using wood.
I am getting the drawings.
The drawings communicate this: the way to build the boat.
I will cut wood.
I will join the parts of the boat.
I will use epoxy for this: to join the different parts.
I will paint the boat.
The paint keeps water from the wood.
I will make a sail using a sewing machine.
The sail will capture the strong wind.
I will make a tall mast.
I put the sail on the mast.
I will raise the sail using a rope.
I steer the boat using a rudder.
The rudder is at the back of the boat.
I can also move the boat using a long wooden oar.
I move the oar away from me.
I move the oar towards myself.
This method moves the boat.
The length of the boat is 15 feet.
I pay money for this: a boat trailer.
I will put the boat on the trailer.
I can move the trailer using my car.
I will keep my boat in my garage.
I will be able to stay on the boat for a week.
I can cook food on it.
I can sleep on it.
I will put an ice box on the boat.
I will put ice in the ice box.
My beer will remain cold.
Today I have little money.
In the future, when I have much money, then I will build my boat.

After "e ni:", "tawa ni:", "tan ni:" we usually put a complete sentence. We do it because of this: we cannot make subordinative clauses in tp. But there is no obligation to use only full sentences in tp.
aikidave wrote:lipu sitelen li toki e ni: nasin pali e tomo tawa telo.
lipu sitelen li toki e ni: nasin (pi) pali pi tomo tawa telo.
The word "e" separates a verb part from a direct object part, but here "pali" is a modifier for noun "nasin", not a verb, and so the use of "e" is a mistake.

"Colour removes a liquid from wood."
I think that this is too much simplified.
1. Some other noun for paint (a thing, not a colour!) should be used: 'telo ko kule', 'ko telo kule'?
2. ko telo kule li lon kasi kiwen la telo li tawa weka tan ni. ?
aikidave wrote:mi weka e palisa tan mi.
I throw away the oar from me. (I get rid of it).
o lukin:
mi tawa e palisa = I move the oar
mi tawa e palisa, tawa weka tan mi = I move the oar, towards away from me.
(jan Kipo o, nasin sina li pona!)
aikidave wrote:nasin ni li tawa e tomo tawa telo.
"This road/method moves a ship."
The method doesn't move anything, you do it.
mi (ken) tawa e tomo tawa telo kepeken nasin ni.
tan nasin ni la mi tawa e tomo tawa telo.
aikidave wrote:mute pi tomo tawa telo li noka luka luka luka.
I failed to understand this.
aikidave wrote:mi pana e mani tawa ni: kama jo e ilo pi tawa e tomo tawa telo.
Usage of the last 'e' is incorrect. 'e' cannot be used inside of nouns.
mi pana e mani li kama jo e ilo: ilo ni li tawa e tomo tawa telo.
aikidave wrote:mi pana e tomo tawa telo mi lon sewi ilo ni.
mi lon(?) e tomo tawa telo mi lon sewi pi ilo ni.
o lukin:
lon sewi ilo ni = on this-top-of-device
lon sewi pi ilo ni = on top of this-device
aikidave wrote:tenpo kama la mi jo e mani suli la mi ken pali e tomo tawa telo mi.
Double 'la' is controversial. I would try to avoid it
tenpo kama la mi jo e mani... ni li lon la mi ken pali...

English uses 'much' for 'money', but I wouldn't hesitate to use 'mani mute'. The word 'suli' is for big size, importance and so on, but 'mani' can mean valuable countable things: cattle, wampums, beaver skins, gold bars, shells, coins, bank notes.
mi jo e soweli mute e sike mute pi kiwen suno. ni li lon kin: mi jo e mani mute.

What Ote said.
We have to put sentences after 'ni:' because, if what follows is only a noun phrase, it could and should be used in place of 'ni'. If that makes too much mess, it is time to rewrite
Probably don't need 'tan' in 'tan nasin ni la' but the form with 'kepeken' after the verb is better.
'mute pi tomo tawa li Nola luka luka luka' is probably better with 'suli', size, length, than 'mute' multitude -- dimension rather than count.
'mi pana e tomo ...'. I would use 'lon' ( if I understand the sentence) rather than 'pana '. The double use of the preposition is inevitable to avoid the long complement between verb and object.
Double 'la' are inevitable, since 'la' serves several purposes, some of often cooccur (here time and conditionality).
