I suppose the program that could determine if a tp sentence was grammatical (even if non-sensical) would be possible, but much more involved, and one that could go back and guess at where an error occurred quite illusive.

Well seeing that it's originates with toki pona, I think it falls under the same creative common license. That is simply, do what you would like with it, as long as the credited and linked. If you want images in any vector or bitmap format to work with, just tell me and I'll pop them out in Photoshop or Illustrator.

jan Ante also mentioned to me wanting the syllables to work with, so he could spell out "Intenasijonale". I was thinking about relearning a little programming to use these to create linear tp strings as well.

i dont want to force you to programming, the PPT glyphs are fine for me, as you did with "nimi ale".

I haven't been too happy with how they output from poweroint. Since they are vector images they should be smooth. But the logic of Microsoft has always escaped me.

Two-Consonant system Re: A ranged possibility: two-letter co

Post by jndn »

Pona tawa tota!

I have a similar idea, to make all vowels facultative, to give more freedom for native speakers.

In many languages, the word pona is associated with: bon, bone, buona, buone, bonus. They can be typed in tp as follows: pona, bona, pone, bone, buone, puone, bonu, or just PN or BN, since pronunciation of P and B is not distinguished in toki pona.

The same thing with kama: come, came, kam, kommen. It can be just CM or KM in toki pona.

My idea is to reduce any tp word to two consonants as follows: CC, and allow any vowels to be added to the speaker's taste.

Thus, the stem of the word will consist of two consonants, which reduces the total amount of words to 9*9=81, or even to 77.
It is difficult, but possible!
In fact this needs some word to be chenged in the dictionary to remove ambiguity.

Words a, e, o change to la, le, lo.
Additional modifier lu is proposed, to change post-positive order to pre-positive.
E.g. toki pona = lu pona toki or tk pn = lu pn tk
jan nasa = jn ns = jnns = lu nasa jan = lu ns jn = lunsjn
jan nasa li wile ante e toki pona = jn ns li wl km lu pn tk

Below, an example of modification of the tp dictionary is given.

Cute, but what is the point? It is not clear that we can get by with many fewer words (this takes out about a third) and we may need more. The abbreviations, while handy -- perhaps -- in writing, do nothing for speech and require some relearning.
