World of Goo translation

Post by AJK »

Hello all! Saluton al cxiuj!I have been busy lately to translate World of Goo (a great game!) intoEsperanto. The translation is ready already! Everyone can try it andspread the news now! (You can buy the game on http://2dboy.com (It hasno DRM/Copy-protection or what-so-ever!) and get the translation fromhttp://tinyurl.com/wogwiki)But now I'm finished with that, all on myself, I thought it would befun to translate the game to toki pona as well.http://tinyurl.com/wogwiki (same wiki url) points you quickly to theright page, where you can just drop in and translate with me/us (don'tlet me down...). I think it would be really great to have the cutestgame on earth to be playable in the cutest language on earth :).Mi laste estis tre okupata traduki la ludon World of Goo (Mondo deGuo) al Esperanto. So we need decent tools when communicationis lacking, when language capability is hard to acquire...http://esperanto.net

I don't think "esun" should be used to mean an "espace" or "world".We already have several words for different kinds of places: "ma","tomo" and "lon".I thought that "esun" was supposed to mean a place where things are*bought* or *sold*. Maybe as a verb it would mean "to shop", "to buy"or "to sell".I'd like to see examples from Sonja for how "esun" would be used.On Mon, Nov 24, 2008 at 05:31, AJK <ikojba@gmail.com> wrote:> esun = about-to-become-official ;) already mentioned in wikipedia et al.>> Yeah, it means something like shop>> 2008/11/24 jean-luc DESTREE <jldestree@hotmail.fr>:>>>> Jan Mimoku o toki ! In the translation, I personally don't use it for world, I use it toindicate an economic environment.2008/11/24 Rick Miller <rdmiller3@gmail.com>:> I don't think "esun" should be used to mean an "espace" or "world".> We already have several words for different kinds of places: "ma",> "tomo" and "lon".>> I thought that "esun" was supposed to mean a place where things are> *bought* or *sold*. I had not yet time to readit entirely, but it's very good job, TP needs oa lot of members like you>Can I conclude that you all expect me doing this alone? ;)Anyway, except for a little part at the end of chapter 1 the stuff isdemo-complete, so I recommend you to test out already. You can do thatfor example with the demo at http://tr.im/world_of_goo_esperante (inproperties/config.txt change eo to tp). When anything is ready, I will prepare a demo-package just for tokipona. And maybe the toki pona version will be included in the boxedversion/updates to it. (Just maybe, but anyway you can play it, astold about before :))Questions? Remarks? Very welcome! :)--Communication is essential. So we need decent tools when communicationis lacking, when language capability is hard to acquire...http://esperanto.net
