Re: This forum went down for about a month
There are several toki pona groups on Facebook. As I've posted elsewhere, the center of the small toki pona universe keeps moving, and the best thing to do is just follow it-- no single person seems to have the power to change it, although the closing of the toki pona mailing list did squash that sort of interaction. Maybe I should create a toki pona google group, since it sort of acts like a forum & mailing list at the same time.
For community building, community activist should engage the world on all kinds of forums, from twitter to facebook to livejournal to jan sewi li sona what else.
Anyhow, what cheeses me off about this forum is that I can't get notifications because the return address on the notification email is gmail acct but the notification isn't sent from gmail, so gmail automatically puts such emails into the spam folder. I think this has really killed activity on this board because people can't get relpy notifications. I've notified jan Sonja, but she can be unpredictable about if and when she replies.

maybe this arrives only? (huh?)

Re: This forum went down for about a month
I would really like to have our upcoming discussions as a mailing list, too. So I'm in favour of a google group. And please don't create subtopics. One big mailing list is sufficient in my opinion. The community and its communication traffic is small after all.

just happens.

@bronger
The mailing list is up-- Google Groups style, it seems to be what all the cool lojban kids are doing.

And before anyone says anything, yes, I know some people really do not like mailing lists. This isn't for them. And yes, this splinters the tiny TP community, but so far, people are more reluctant to switch technologies and communities than you might think (livejournal people, yahoo mailing list people and forum people overlap only somewhat)

Re: This forum went down for about a month
Thanks for setting up a mailing list! (By the way, isn't the idea behing Google Groups that ou have a mailing list and a forum?)
But, how are people supposed to find this mailing list? As many toki pona pages as possible should point to it.

Re: This forum went down for about a month
This is what i see all the time on this forum here. New people came, and get corrected. On the forum it has some cold effect.Expect to be corrected. This is just a common shock to people new to language learning communities. You might ask where the restroom is and all you get are corrections to your grammar, spelling and word choice.
responding to grammar questions by discouraging people
On IRC we don't really acts the same way, but this is inherent to the media.
There is two ( or more ) tp communities that don't act the same.
Correcting people is like teachers at school. I hope we won't lose people who don't like this.
My name is Kuti. But this is Raphaël's forum, not minehttp://lingvo.xooit.fr/f8-toki-pona.htm -- jan Kute's forum (background language is French)
We try to get people involved in Second Life http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/S ... 4/117/1451or toki lili on shoutem, or facebook, or google plus, or #tokipona on twitter or irc, or many, many, many others. No one seems to be able to encourage everyone to pick one social technology, it's time we stopped trying and just embrace them all.
toki pona is very suitable for this. The 3D world gives lots of context, and toki pona likes context.
