To get an account

ALSO: The email server for this forum appears to be permanently down. You will not get a confirmation email, I have to manually approve people. Message me on twitter at @janMato to get me to manually approve your account.

Until we change the anit-spam captcha, you must solve a toki pona vocabulary question. If we can't stop spam, at least we can teach them toki pona.

All spam written in a language other than toki pona will be deleted. Nigerian letters are okay, but only if written entirely in toki pona and if all the numbers are kept small.

If you are from China, you will really need to pick a toki pona name. A toki pona name starts with jan, meli or mije. For a first pass on adapting your name to toki pona's sound rules, visit this page. -- it usually works.

The high volume of spam is killing the activity on this forum because the regular posters can no longer tell if a notification is about a real message or if it is more spam.

Getting an account on tokilili
If you sign up with a regular account, please pick a toki pona name. It's been the best indicator so far of who is a spammer and who isn't.

If you sign up with a twitter account, you can't really pick your name, so please say something in toki pona on your twitter account. I just need some small clue that you aren't a spammer.

good idea but i suugest some more complicated trial. e.g. replace this

Code: Select all

Hello! Please type the number "21" into the box below so that we know you are a human and not a spam bot.
with something like this

Code: Select all

toki! sina jan anu ilo anu seme? sina jan la sina o sitelen e nimi pi mama pi toki pona lon (lipu lili) ni -> |__|

that should be applicable regardless of his country

unfortunatly this is far not the main reason of low activity

Re: challenge question in toki pona
Yes, if I get so much as one more spam post, I will do that. It's a fine line between making registration too hard and too easy.

Re: why toki pona land seems quiet
It goes in waves. Imho, to spark a flurry of posts, someone has to show up, invest the 30 hours to learn the language, be willing to use technology of the moment (we seem to have permanently lost tokiponists during the mailing list to forum switch over), and they need to have some sort of activity in mind.

That last part is also a real kicker. With Esperanto you can go to a conference and get a edzino and one would have an organic reason to continue to use the language. After one has gotten some competency in toki pona, there isn't really a next step, one can contrive only so many toki pona goals.

jan Kapiwe o! o pali sin e sitelen tawa ilo toki lili.

You're talking about toki lili on shoutem, right? I checked, and right now everyone with a name starting with jan has been approved. I don't see anyone unapproved. Maybe you could try to sign up again with the same info, or if that doesn't work a different name, or if that doesn't work you could try signing in with a twitter account.

Strange... I made another account, received the confirmation e-mail, when I click in the confirmation URL it redirects me to the login page. When I login I see this:
Your account hasn't been approved by the administrator yet. Please wait until you receive a confirmation e-mail.
I have to receive another confirmation e-mail? :?

You should have an approval mail now. I'm just slow.

|17:00:05| * Hapiel (~chatzilla@e178071030.adsl.alicedsl.de) has joined #tokipona
|17:00:11| <Hapiel> toki
|17:00:33| <Hapiel> I have a question, sorry for not taking effort to translate:
|17:01:07| <Kuti> toki
|17:01:26| <Hapiel> I would like to join the forums, but I am not getting the verification mails. I tried already with 3 different email addresses at different times. Who is running the forum and can I contact to report this bug and verify my account?
|17:02:01| <Kuti> i think it is jan Mato but i am not sure
|17:02:24| <Kuti> the activations are not automatic because of spam bots :s
|17:03:06| <Hapiel> But there is even a toki pona check where I had to enter the correct word, next to a captcha and another anti spam question!
|17:03:26| <Hapiel> so somebody goes trough the new activations how often? I think I signed up 2 weeks ago..
|17:03:54| <Kuti> i don't know how often it is checked
Hello, can someone do someting to fix this ?
thanks ^^
