I was reading jan Pije's lessons when I came across this:
There's a particular plant (ahem) which is illegal in most nations but which greatly inspired Toki Pona and which is used for recreation and/or meditation by some people. If it's used for recreation, it's referred to as kasi nasa. When used for meditation, it's called kasi sona.
Is it accurate to say that it "greatly inspired" Toki Pona?
I, personally, smoke about twice a week. I did make a connection between Toki Pona and pot, but I didn't know others thought this as well.

To make the eternal point again explicitly: phrases given in dictionaries of tp are what someone has found useful for expressing a certain conept in a particular situation. In another context, the same words might be used for something else or different words might be better for that concept.
Is it accurate to say that it "greatly inspired" Toki Pona?

I missed this comment earlier.
I think tp (and maybe conlangs in general) tends to attract radicals. I'm on the anti-pot end of the spectrum, but that is because I'm rabbidly anti-smoking. I don't have an particular strong opinion on eating it.
I suppose I could imagine how using it with toki pona might have some synergy, since people on pot report thinking that ordinary (i.e. simple) things are profound and meaningful and trying to read toki pona is an exercise in looking for something meaningful and hopefully profound.

Also, many people now-a-days vaporize instead of smoke. Vaporizing is literally just heating up the herb untill it emits water vapor. You breath in the water vapor and no harm is done.
I'm not trying to get anyone to use drugs here, just saying
It stinks like the dickens. Culturally and aethetically speaking, smoking, as a drug delivery system, has the appeal of shooting up with rusty needles. In the world of drugs, I like very much antibiotics, diuretics, antidepressants, etc. I'd still campaign for the banning of smoking any of them if a drug company tried to sell a penicillin you could smoke.

I'm not sure if you know, but marijuana smoke is quite different from cigarette smoke. People have been doing it for thousands of years, too. It's pretty timeless.
If you prefer pills to natural plants then you clearly don't understand how horribly corrupt the pharmaceutical industry is. Did you ever stop to think why Doctors support the use of designed drugs and not natural ones? No Toki Ponan would support that industry.
P.S.- You don't really take anti-depressants do you? Ugh. I feel like you have been indoctrinated pretty heavily by our modern D.A.R.E. culture.
