Lingua Franca Nova (LFN)

Post by k2attack »

Have you heard of Lingua Franca Nova? LFN is one of the Romance-based conlangs (or Interlingua clones) that has a "Toki Pona -like" feel or vibe to it!

LFN is a relatively recent conlang (first presented in 1998). Its vocabulary is based on Romance languages (French, Spanish, Portuguese, Catalan, Italian etc.) and it has a creole/pidgin like (or Chinese like) grammar. You can say LFN is like a hybrid between Esperanto and Toki Pona! LFN has a beautiful sound!

The verbs (and other words) rarely change form, there is very little inflection (e.g. there is no accusative case) and there is a word order.

Unlike Interlingua, LFN doesn't go too far in the direction of naturalism (Interlingua has irregular spelling, irregular verbs etc.).

Thanks for the link, it's fascinating! I think I'll stick with Toki Pona as long as I don't master it to some degree, but LFN might be next. Plus, my mother tongue is French and I've been recently trying to learn the bare-bone basics of Spanish and Catalan as I have to spend 2 weeks doing structural analysises of these apartments for sale in Barcelona for a big client, so what I've heard/seen from LFN feels familiar.
