Make me a sandwich!

Postby janKipo » Tue Mar 19, 2013 12:59 pm

Make me a sandwich!
Poof! You're a sandwich.
Just does not work in tp. o pali e pan moku tawa mi. a! sina pan moku.
I suppose the waiter could have misheard the request as o pali e pan moku tan mi. But the real request for this reply would be o kama pan moku e mi.
Can you think of a similar sort of joke that works in tp?

Thanks for the Linux lore -- it destroyed 16 gigs on my last machine and so I have not followed it much. An interesting variant on "Simon says".
I don't get "This destroys that thing. You look for that thing."

Much better "sandwich". My even more pedantic friend reminds me that the original is "Make me a malted."

I appear to have forgot how to say "This is not what you are looking for"

ni li ni ala: sina li alasa e jan ilo.
These aren't the droids you are looking for.

ni li moku. this is food.
ni li moku ala. This isn't food.
ni li ni ala. this isn't it.
? ni li ala. This is not.

jan Wan: ni li jan ilo ni: sina li alasa e jan ilo ni?
(?) jan Tu: ni li ala

Well, better 'sina alasa ala alasa e jan ilo ni? answer: 'ala'. (nimi pali ni li pona mute tawa jan Sonja)
sina alasa e ijo. ni li ijo ni ala: normalized to "this is not the thing you are looking for."
'ala' as an intransitive verb (i.e., a noun or modifier in initial verb position) means "nothing" or, possibly, "non-existent" (though not with 'ni', of course).

apeja - a word jan Sonja wrote about but never promoted to full wordhood. It means something like hate and other seriously unpleasant feelings and thoughts. Sort of a "jaki" of the "pilin" category, so to be mean spirited, to behave in a sexist, racist, other-ist fashion, etc.
