Sorry, but for me it's better to openly discuss decisions of jan lawa pi tenpo pini, than to blame nations. My posts are not against Russians or people from any other country, o lukin pona, o sona!

jan ale o.

o utala ala.

We don't have a moderator around here, so it's up to us to walk away from a discussion when it isn't going to go anywhere productive.

The convention on the Conlang list-SERV is to try to avoid discussing crown and cross i.e. politics and religion, if we had a moderator, that would be a reasonable guideline for them to follow.

(on the other hand-- some one one once said that one mustn't talk about politics, religion and sex at the dinner table, but those are the only interesting things to talk about!)

o mi mute li pilin poka ni: mi mute li ken pilin ante. Let's agree to disagree.

[I think it's okay to disagree here, as long as we're using Toki Pona (as jan-Ante says) then we can talk about anything (obviously not personal insults).]

[I was wondering if anybody could correct my comments about Czechs.]
[Jan-Ante, I think you didn't notice that I've already attempted a Toki Pona translation of my English post.]
[You can reply to it if you want!]

I've copied the Toki Pona translation with the English version underneath for reference. I'd be very grateful if somebody could give me some corrections. pona mute! tenpo kama la mi jo e wile sona mute pi ma Losi/ma kulupu Soweto.

TOKI INLI
First I'll say what I want to say in English and then try to translate it to Toki Pona.
Czechs are non-confrontational and submissive in general, in a good way. They're very laid back and if they see they might have to fight for their country or fight in general, they think 'f**k that, it's not worth it'. It has a lot to do with their atheism, they think they're going to be maggot food when they die, they don't think they're going to a better or worse place so they'd just rather not bother yet.
They're only in or were in Iraq and Afghanistan in a symbolic way or as you said to make stuff etc., again kind of going along with it for their benefit (being seen to support their allies), just like building stuff for Hitler would have kept the Nazis off their backs.
Anyway, my whole point was basically talking about the Czech character, rather than the character of the government politically etc. I was complimenting Czechs rather than insulting other nations and 98% of my purpose was to practise Toki Pona and I didn't know what to write about!

I'm English and we're as evil as anybody has been in history, arguably!

I'll translate it tomorrow or later cuz it's longer than I intended!

strong argument. without modrator it is a risky discussion.

(on the other hand-- some one one once said that one mustn't talk about politics, religion and sex at the dinner table, but those are the only interesting things to talk about!)
another strong argument. i am still curious, how some hot discussion could take place in tp, and will the (promissed) absence of newspeak/doublespeak change anything?

Even without doublespeak and the like, it is still possible just to lie and politicians and "patriots" and "religious people" (pick your brand) do all the time.

i know. but i am interested in a role of doublespeak. if Sonja claim that tp gets rid of it, why not to try?
