sitelin pi sona pona tan lipu pi ma Nu Joku

Post by janMato »

New York Times article about how some old advice on effective studying was wrong.

o lukin sona e ijo sona pi kule mute!

'pilin' not 'lipin'
I wonder it this is 'kepeken' or 'poka': the noise and objects are (not) there but they are hardly tools for his learning (although I suppose that there is sense in which their absence is a tool in the first case.
"If a person can know a lot, then a person can greatly change the final thing of desiring knowledge" ?("high point"?, "questions"?}
"O look wisely at the wise thing of many colors"?

ijo pini -- goal
ijo pini pi wile sona -- goal of questioning
lukin sona -- study. I had in mind following the pattern of kama sona, without implying completion. kama sona seems to imply having learned. Also on reflection it conveys intention of knowing
ijo sona -- items of knowlege, facts
kule seems like a likely word for "type" "sort" "variety" "class"

ijo pini pi wile sona -- goal of questioning 'wile sona' for "question" looks pretty good, although it is not particularly active -- "want to know" is different from "ask" after all
lukin sona -- study. I had in mind following the pattern of kama sona, without implying completion. kama sona seems to imply having learned. Also on reflection it conveys intention of knowing I read that as "read" but "study" is good if 'lukin' is going to do for "try to" (with the suggestion that real effort is involved)
ijo sona -- items of knowlege, facts see above. but 'wan sona' seems mystical, and other things, involving 'kama' and 'lon' are as unobvious as this.
kule seems like a likely word for "type" "sort" "variety" "class" The logician in me calls out for 'kulupu', but that is a rather formal sense, 'kula' is a real possibility -- especially since it is not carrying much freight yet.
