Do you mean "open" can be used to say "to start" in tp? That would seem to make sense, and would actually make a pretty good translation in this case. Or did you just mean that a period before "taso" starts a new sentence (which it obviously does, of course).

Menopause -- dropping periods all over the place. Yes, 'open' means "start" in tp: Gen 1:1 'open la jan sewi li lon e kon sewi e ma.'
