Translating Frozen Songs- "ni li pini!"

Postby janMato » Sat May 31, 2014 12:13 pm

Here it is, "Let it Go!" from frozen (also known as "Get it out! (of my head!)" or "ni li pini!"
Translated from the original Icelandic. And I didn't edit. The ** is grammatically the edgiest construction. I used "selo" to mean hide.

kon li kalama sama utala kon lon insa lawa mi
pini la mi ken selo e wawa mi. taso mi wile pini

Hleyp þeim ei inn lát þau ei sjá
jan ale li ken ala sona e ni: mi li lon sama ni
Vertu góða stelpan sem þú varst
o meli pona e sina kin sama jan ante
Feldu, bældu, seg þeim ei frá
o pana ala e sona pi lon insa sina
En þau vita það þá
tempo sina sona kin e ni la

Þetta er nóg, þetta er nóg
ni li pini, ni li pini
Get ei lengur haldið í mér

Ég þarf að sjá hvað ég get gert

mi kute ala e nimi "o pali! o pali ala" tan jan ali
Ég er frjáls
mi pali kepeken wawa pi mi taso

Þetta er nóg, þetta er nóg
ni li pini, ni li pini
Uppi í himni eins og vindablær
lon laso suli sama kon tawa lili
Þetta er nóg, komið nóg
ni li pini, kin la ni li pini
Og tár mín enginn sér fær
telo oko mi li pini
Hér ég stend
mi lon ma ni sama kasi suli
Og hér ég verð
lon ma ni la mi awen

Látið geisa storm
o utala e kon tawa pi walo lete
Minn máttur þyrlast gegnum loftið niðrá jörð
wawa mi li tawa tan laso suli tawa ma lon anpa pi noka mi
Mín sál er hringiða úr frosnum brotamyndum gjörð
kon mi li sama kiwen pi walo lete
Ein hugsun kristalla sem ískalt sprengigos
mi pilin e sitelen lon lawa la mi kama pakala e kiwen pi walo lete
Ég aldrei aftur sný
mi tawa ala tawa ma mi pi tenpo open
Það var sem eitt sinn var
tenpo pini li pini kin

sama tenpo suno wawa
Látið geysa storm
o ken e kon tawa wawa kin
Kuldinn hann hefur ei háð mér neitt
lete li ala tawa mi

I really have to find this song, which, in some tp versions, sounds like the ravings of someone in terminal hypothermia (I gather, from the descriptions). The Icelandic doesn't help much.
'tenpo pimeja la nena ma suli li suli sama e mun lili' "At night, the mountain similarly enlarges the little moon" (star? new moon?) Prob: 'suli sama mun lili' "as big as the little moon"
'sitelen pi noka pini li lon ala lon ma ni' "Are there pictures of finished legs on this gound" Prob: 'sitelen pi pini noka li lon ala ma ni' "There aren't footprints on this ground"
'** mi pilin e ni: mi pi ken la li meli lawa.' "I think that the maybe me is a queen" But 'la' doesn't have a modifier use (yet -- and I don't quite see how it would), so the 'pi' construction doesn't work. Maybe:'ken la mi li kama meli lawa' or some such.
'jan ale li ken ala sona e ni' Awkward. ?'jan ala li ken sona'?
'tempo [la?] sina [li?] sona kin e ni la'
'mi tawa kin en tawa sama kalama pi kon tawa suli' ?'tawa en tawa' as a compound predicate for continuing (long term) action or for emphasis? Would 'li' also work?
'mi utala ala e jan ala' ?Double negation for emphasis of positive? of negative? tp doesn't have other examples, so odd.
'pakala en jan pi pilin ante' Odd combination, "Destruction and people who think differently"
' pilin monsuta li jo e mi' 'monsuta' has a mixed history, centered on "fear", either displaying or causing. I suppose it means causing here, but seems to mean displaying in ' mosunta li wawa ala tawa mi', though maybe not.
'mi pali li suli. tenpo ni la mi open' By implication, the first two are futures or intentions; a 'kama' might have been appropriate.
'mi kute ala e nimi "o pali! o pali ala" tan jan ali' Awkward again.
'lon laso suli sama kon tawa lili' Not clear where this fits in (nor what it is) It looks like something is missing, but hard to say what.
'mi tawa ala tawa ma mi pi tenpo open' "Am I going to my country of origin?" Prob: just 'tawa ala ma'
The rest is clear, but the message seems muddled.
