monsuta en jan

Post by janMato »

Notes:
I've been resisting the pi +PP, but it is very handy for injecting a PP between a verb and an e, eg li toki pi sama kon = wisper

I don't really understand what this song means in English. The bit about kids in bags reminds me of Icelandic stories about trolls that kidnap kids and take them away in bags.

tomo lon poka telo lili = lake house, by monsters and men

lon tomo tawa telo, lon tomo tawa telo
lon tomo tawa telo, lon tomo tawa telo
jan ni li awen e jan mije lili taso lon poka ona
lon poki len lon poki len
lon poki len lon monsi pi ona mije.

sina ken ala ken tawa li weka e seli loje ni?

mi en sina li tawa sewi kepeken len noka pi len ike,
taso meli li tawa anpa. meli li tawa anpa.
meli li tawa anpa tawa tomo.
mi mute li pilin pona tawa soweli. taso soweli li apeja e mi mute
li tawa weka li tawa weka.

sina ken alal ken tawa li weka e seli loje ni?
tenpo pi moli pi kasi suli la mi en sina li lape e lape pi tenpo suno ale.

mi lon ni.

Of Monsters And Men - Lakehouse Lyrics
Artist: Of Monsters And Men
Album: My Head Is An Animal

Oh, I miss the comfort of this house.
Where we are, where we are.
Where we are, where we are,
The floor under our feet whispers out,
“come on in, come on in, where it all begins”.

The tallest man I’ve ever seen afloat.
On a boat, on a boat.
On a boat, on a boat.
He keeps his only son close by.
In a bag, in a bag.
In a bag on his back.

Can you chase this fire away,

We climbed up to the top in worn out shoes,
but she ran down, she ran down.
She ran down to the house.
A fox that gains our trust but then breaks it as he walks
away form us, away from us.

Can you chase this fire away,
In the fall we sleep all day.

Where we are.

I know your resist, but 'tomo PI lon poka telo' but I like your "whisper"
This mainly without looking at the English
The good feelings, not the wanting, is in the house 'PI lon tomo mi' (for clarity, if not for rules)
(Peeked) "where we are" is not "I am here" but 'lon mi mute'
'supa lon anpa noka mi' "my pedal bottom existing surface"?? I suppose (for clarity again) 'supa pi lon anpa [pi] noka mi' I'll listen to arguments about that 'anpa pi', though the present rule is fairly clear.
'tawa insa pi [not 'lon' or 'pi lon'] tomo ni'
'tenpo pini ale li sin lon ni' "All the past is new here" (I checked the English) 'ale li open lon ni' is more literal (God knows what it means).
Uff da! "The tallest man I've ever seen afloat" but I've seen taller on land? is afloat? I saw him while I was afloat? Probably the second, all things considered. 'jan ni li suli sewi mute. mi lukin e jan ante la jan ante ni li suli sewi lili. jan ni li lon supo telo' (I am ignoring any musical considerations here, obviously).
Why 'tawa li' -- I don't see how this gets "chase" (nor what "chase" really adds to "get rid of" -- ignoring music again).
'tawa lawa' (the top, not above it) maybe 'selo ike' for worn-out shoes.
'apeja'? Have we been here before?
Not "sleep every day" but "sleep all day" 'ali pi tenpo suno'
