But 'tomo telo nasa' doesn't mean "bar", Ther is no ambiguity. At best, someone who wanted to say "bar" made a mistake and left out the 'pi'.

How will that work. 'pi' is not built to remove ambiguities, merely to establish certain structures.

'o' doesn't replace 'li' but the whole subject plus li complex to make an imperative.

Or 'e toki Epelanto' or 'mi toki kepeken toki Epelanto'. I have to admit that the decision to use 'kepeken' has become controversial again after several years as established usage, but it is still the established usage.
