It doesn't surprise me that Láadan failed to catch on.
It seems to me that Láadan was doomed for several reasons. It's premise- that existing languages are biased against women- is absurd. Languages are spoken by women as much as they are by men, and women therefore have an equal chance to invent and adapt natural languages. GIven the thousands of natur...

Is aUI a plausible language to communicate in?
Is aUI a plausible language to communicate in? It looks strange, cumbersome and I don't see any obvious grammatical rules. Are there any texts written in it I could look at? FYI- I know English, a tiny bit of Latin and studied but completely forgot Japanese. Toki Pona I'm working on. Give me another...

S-W is an invalid hypothesis
My understanding is, based on a cognitive psychology textbook I read, that the S-W hypothesis is not supported by evidence. A bilingual child who uses one language at home and another at school will come to associate the home language with familiarity, comfort, casual communication and the language ...

Re: Toki Pona's community
What do you think are the big unsolved question in toki pona? I'm not fluent in the language yet, so there could easily be outstanding grammatical issues about which I am totally unaware, but off the top of my head? This is a prioritized list of what I think Toki Pona needs:

Produce plenti...

http://bknight0.myweb.uga.edu/toki/lesson/lesson5.html claims "jan sewi" means "god".janKipo wrote: 1. 'jan lawa' sounds like Lord, which (from the KJV anyhow) isn't right here, but we don't yet have a good God word at this point. 'e sewi e anpa' is a good dodge.

pu = ??
I would not like it if "pu" is only used as a comma. Why not use an actual comma? It's what everyone is already doing and what we're used to.
"pu" as something in a natural state? Or as student? I don't know how I feel about those.

Why bother to name letters?
I wonder: what is the value of naming the letters, especially for such a minimalist language?

Re: 125- monsuta
moku soweli is, after all, food, not animals, just as 'soweli moku' is animals, not food, per se. It could. of course, be animals that eat/are eating, for example. That just rubs me the wrong way. It is being used as an adjective, not a verb. But I'm still relatively new to tp and I certainly don't...

Re: 125- monsuta
moku soweli - food for animals, or animals as food? My interpretation would be that "moku soweli" would be "animal feed". "moku jan" would be "people food". "soweli moku" would be a(n) animal(s) for eating. "soweli moli moku" would be a de...
