Re: toki pona shorthand

Corpus I think this is pretty much what I want it to be. I am a little disappointed in how the words come together with spaces written out. That's not really something I feel I can improve upon because I don't use toki pona as much as the rest of you. I don't think fully cursive sentences would be ...

Re: toki pona shorthand

Thanks! Yeah learning Gregg was pretty difficult. The idea behind this project was to include all of the good and none of the bad so that it would be fun to use. OK, that means I need to include capitalization. Gregg shorthand has diacritics for that, and that might be OK, but there are other ways t...

Re: toki pona shorthand

Well I think I am pretty much done tinkering. All that's left is to try writing out the corpus and see if all the words come together nicely, which I will try to do before next week, God willing. The frequency list was important so that I could try and match up the descenders and ascenders with lett...

Re: toki pona shorthand

Thanks, that's really great. Do you remember if coda-n is included with n? Adding the numbers up gives me 99.7% so I would wager yes.

Re: toki pona shorthand

I have worked out one of the kinks in using a symbol for the space which was troublesome connections iow ugly connections. If you reduplicate and reverse the symbol for the space ligature you will get a smooth curve which can go between two incompatible consonants. The default position which does no...

Re: ken la jan li ken toki kepeken kalama uta?

jan Akersimun: Well, actually, I meant to pair up the 16 possible syllables of Silbo Gomera (4 vowels and 4 consonants) arbitrarily with the 15 catch-all syllables from the top of this image (this first scheme of mine is not just a shorthand but a kind of compression technique, akin to the letter co...

Re: mi pali e sitelen pi toki pona

I think your script looks pretty cool. I think it's neat how you put it together. The block letters remind me of a cross between runes and some Western alphabet, like Coptic, Cyrillic or Roman. The reversed letters are a bit of a surprise but they definitely make it look different. Many English curs...

Re: ken la jan li ken toki kepeken kalama uta?

From what I remember about Silbo Gomera, there are 4 consonants and 4 vowels, with stress and if I am not mistaken, a pitch distinction too. I might be wrong about the last part. If it is only 16 syllables we could still use my contracted syllabary idea (dissolve all of TP's syllables into 15 catch-...

Re: toki pona shorthand

@jan Josan: Sure I can explain more. My process amounts to trial & error, guess & check, with some eureka moments, but I am trying to solve problems in a mostly straightforward manner. First some background. Right around the time I learned TP (5 years ago) I was also investigating shorthand ...
