Re: A couple of trends

re: reduplication as intensification When toki pona, in its small toolbox has a toki pona way of doing something, normatively, we should do that. So pona kin is better than pona pona or pona mute mute. But the corpus so far disagrees a good percent of the time-- maybe it is a creole universal. The ...

Re: I propose reducing Toki Pona to a single word:

Too restrictive. Keep the particles, so:

o Mu! mu la mu pi mu mu li mu mu e mu, kepeken mu, sama mu, tawa mu, lon mu, poka mu.

That pretty much sums up everything I've ever said in toki pona.

I guess pi is sort of redundant now, since it is always some sort of pi mu mu.

If we had obligatory performative markers in tp, what'd they look like?

If we had obligatory performative markers in tp, what would they look like? Performative: "Performativity is a term for the capacity of speech and communication not simply to communicate but rather to act or consummate an action, or to construct and perform an identity" https://en.wikipedi...

The parser does a good job of catching mistakes. If you create an account, you can save texts and provide the world with a link & then they can read your text colorized (different colors for different parts of speech).

Blinky "toki pona"

Medical conlang challenge: You've all heard about people who have multi-year episodes of total body paralysis, often only leaving them in control of their eye blinks. What would be a handy "prestige script" would be a way to map eyeblinks to toki pona. Morse code comes to mind, but that ha...

Forum up again

The PHP version was updated and broke the forum for about 1/3 of a year. It looks like it works again. As soon as someone responds to this I'll know if notifications and email in general works again.

Re: nasin sewi

Is nanpa in a class of it's own (and can start phrases)? Or is this like the invisible li between mi/sina and the verb? Maybe something that implies a grammatical rule: telo nasa la nasin tu li sama pi ala kin. (An emphatic negation, an opposite-- a maximal opposite-- a polar opposite) 5th precept. ...
