Re: Toki! :)

kama pona tawa toki pona! mi pana e toki lili lili: sina nimi ala. sina jan meli, tan ni la sina wile toki e ni 'nimi mi li nimi 'Nasakan'' anu 'mi jan Nasakan' 'sona weka' is not a kind of knowing but a kind of tossing away, so I'd go with 'weka sona' but yours is a reasonable shot. It is Esperanto...

Re: Help converting name

Oh, bad luck in names -- for this particular exercise, that is. Fully spelled out you get something like Kulutu (or Kuwutu); not too bad but not as snappy as Curt. Since clusters tend to resolve to their dominant element (which is nit usually r or l) we get down to Kutu, which is shorter but maybe a...

nimi pi kalama lili tu li pona tawa mi. mi jan Josan. nimi mi li tan nimi Jonathan. Not sure whether 'tan' is a 'tawa' class verb but it seems to be ('sina tan ma seme' in the lessons) taso nimi ni li pali mute ike tawa jan ante. 'pali mute e ike' or 'pali e ike mute' jan ale li wile toki e ni: jan...

Re: A ranged possibility: two-letter codes

Sounds like Portuguese version of the Latin alphabet would do fine. The present script is phonemic already. The Ptg may lack w or y or some other letter (I just don't remember) but it has a high tilde to go over vowels (I think all of them, but again, ...). Syllabic I take it you mean something like...

Re: A ranged possibility: two-letter codes

Well, the basic sriticism is that we don't need it and using it just puts another roadblock in the way of learning tp. That is the same problem with hieroglyphs, kana, ideograms, etc. etc. The Latin alphabet, for all its faults is familiar, easy to use and doesn't misrepresent tp hardly at all. The ...

Re: kulupu nimi "sona 'Piloloki'" li pona ala pona?

I think the point is that tp is not for scientists or specialists of any sort, but for just folks doing just folksy things.

As I said, 'pana' just seems wrong to me but 'tawa' certainly works. I just think 'tawa' is overused.

Re: imposible is nothing - ken ala li ala :)

Well, I had trouble with the original 'ma', hence the question. I would be happy with 'lon suli' "broad existence" or some such thing. Maybe even "ali li pona'
I did carry on with 'ma,' but something else would probably be better.

Re: A ranged possibility: two-letter codes

Tachygraphy has its charms and even such a short-word language as tp probably can use it in recording speech and, of course, tweeting, twittering and generally using telephones in places where God didn't intend them for purposes She didn't intend either. In measured, slow, considered communication, ...

Re: toki musi mi

Well, I suggested using 'lon' because it has the very precise meaning of "place at/in" (The meaning 'exist' is very derivative from its basic prepositional sense "at/in" and similarly the 'true' and 'alive' meanings. These arise only when no place is specified.) 'pana' seems to m...
