Re: Greek-based small-lang

Hi! this is not THE jan nasa (who might try to alter toki pona), because i do NOT wish to alter toki pona Ha! Yeah, that's just the name of the sub forum, not the poster's opinion of what he posts about. Here I usually post stuff that either relates to reforming toki pona, or other toki-pona-like s...

The more languages the better. The language learner's vow is "Languages are innumerable, I vow to learn them all" and the small languages make that task easier.

Relgion or philosophy document

http://apokrif93tok.wordpress.com/2014/01/20/lipu-toki-al-1/ Anyone care to guess what this document is about? I couldn't recognize it. (copied here because toki pona stuff on the web is so ephemeral, it could be gone tomorrow) an Aleisite Kilowilei (jan nimi Losi li jan sama Nisalatote Osie) lipu t...

Re: Sign language?

Nope-- but there is a fully developed fan created one (chuff did that one, I approve of it-- it's a good system-- I didn't memorize it because I'm working on doing a bit of ASL with the baby at the moment). And a billion years ago there was an incomplete one based on using ordinary ASL for words. I ...

Re: "New" toki pona?

oops jan pi sijelo pona.

Been speaking a lot of Russian, so the false cognate is tripping me up. (telo = body in russian). And toki pona trips me up when I speak Russian (I keep saying oko instead of glaza-- I guess my brain thinks it's a plausible russian word derived from ochki- glasses)

Re: "New" toki pona?

Seems like this topic has been visited before, but here's what I can think of off the top of my head: X la Sentence. (where X is a sentence fragment that acts like an adverb or time marker) This seems to be community innovation, but so long ago, it's lost in time as to who did it first. Maybe jan So...

Re: if 'ni pu' made restrictive relative clauses

So far toki pona has evolved out of sloppy writing. I think the "tense" and "adverb" system evolved that way, in some of the oldest archives there was an argument as to if la-fragments were legit-- they became legit through heavy use. Ditto for the number system, luka, if I remem...

Re: Model for literature

Ah! A new algorithm for readability scores! So if a score was assigned to each word in a reading, the average would be the average level- which would be about 2. That doesn't sound right. So instead let's score each word less than target as +1 and each word over target as -1, and then we'd get somet...

Re: toki pona ancient history- Who was Lament?

I don't know enough about IRC-- what moderation options are there? I always thought it was completely uncontrolled, so that penis pill peddlers, nazis and 12 year old trolls had equal speech rights. This FAQ implies there is a way to get some control http://freenode.net/faq.shtml#groups Anyhow, I'll...

toki pona mantra

(cross posted from Facebook's toki pona group) I was speculating on what a toki pona matra would be. The Hindu ones were based on so called seed-syllables (I'm not sure how they were derived), and weren't necessarily words, but they were attributed meaning, as if those seed syllables mean that in al...
