A.2.29: kala kule mute

Hi, I hope this hasn't been asked before. I couldn't find anything in the forum. I tried to read the text A.2.29 "kala kule mute" from the book "Toki Pona, the language of good - the simple way of life". I had quite some difficulties and I think I found out why: Doesn't "kal...

Re: toki!

Maybe only one natural language can be compared to Toki Pona. It is the language of the Pirah√°. For example this language has no recursion. Please see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZgtDHDHWcs (in German) pona! tenpo lili la mi wile lukin e ni. BTW: Under Linux you can start the main script...

Re: toki!

Now I understand what you mean - Sorry. Maybe it is better to write it in quotation marks: mi ken ala ken toki e ni: "tenpo pini lili la mi open kama sona e toki pona."? At the moment my Toki Pona parser can handle this case. I have to write rules for quotes. I prefer this: "tenpo pi...

Re: toki!

Oh, yeah, I forgot about the name stuff. In my example, the second 'nimi' is unnecessary, as TP38 shows. But the quotes are not (as TP38 and elsewhere regularly gets wrong). In 'nimi mi li Api.', 'Api' is a name, that of the speaker. It is, in particular, not that of the name of the speaker. But, a...

Re: toki!

I don't think I can follow you. First you say: But your sentece is not a question Now, you seem to agree it's a question: Grammar and meaning is different. You can build sentences with right grammer but without meaning. Excuse me, but this looks like you were saying my sentence lacks any meaning, wh...

Re: toki!

BTW, your grammar parser considers it a question: ;) ?- check_grammar(P). |: mi ken ala ken toki e ni: tenpo pini lili la mi open kama sona e toki pona? P = s(int( yes_no(np(sub(pronoun(mi))), vp(verb_pre(ken), adverb(ala), verb_pre(ken), verb_tra(toki), obj_d(sep(e), pronoun(ni)))) , sep(:), lp(sub...

Re: toki!

Isn't "ken ala ken" a question?
How would you ask "Can you say mi open kama sona e toki pona" in toki pona?

I'm using Linux.

Re: toki!

jan Lope o, toki! "anu, mi ken ala ken toki e ni: tenpo pini lili la mi open kama sona e toki pona ?" "Or, can I (=is it OK to) say this: recently I started to learn toki pona?" So, I wanted to ask: Can I use open as a pre-verb. Your grammar parser has it commented out, so the se...
