Re: toki! mi pini kama sona e toki pona lon tenpo pi pini lili.

Or maybe 'tenpo suno pini luka luka' We vary. No 'e' with 'kama', which I don't think you need anyhow, just 'mi Kama sona e toki pona' (I suppose you could specify you started: 'open Kama sona' and maybe that is the point of the first 'kama', but then the form would be the same:'Kama Kama sona'). Ka...

Re: LIPU LI LON!

This version, "What transitive relation do you bear to her?" (we'll take the "her" on faith, sine 'ona, has no antecedent) covers things that might not be pali, 'wile', for example. But basically they are just style variants, the book's being there to illustrate the uses of 'seme'.

Re: nasin sewi

Apparently, 'nanpa' counts as a number when it is followed by a number and numbers don't need 'pi' if there is more than one as modifier. We don't say 'jan pi tu wan' for "three people".

Re: LIPU LI LON!

As for taking the texts with a lot of salt, the purpose of texts in a language book is not to get you to believe what is said but to allow you to see howit is said, a very different mater. I hope the fact that you find the teachings repellent will not interfere with your absorbing the grammar and th...

Re: LIPU LI LON!

Who is the publisher here? I don't know nor that they are Muslim (or do you mean one that publishes anything about Islam or by Muslims, which would knock out most publishers?). I gather that Sonja is currently Muslim, if that affects your participation in tp.

Re: LIPU LI LON!

Not optimal showpieces for tp, perhaps, but interesting to see how it works in different area, far from the original Daoism. So, buy it for Sonja's tp, whatever the topic.

Re: LIPU LI LON!

S o VP is the old standard, short for S o o VP (obligatory I think, unless a comma intervenes) . Using 'mi' for S is novel but useful for the self-help sorts. The S is not rally the subject but a vocative.

Re: LIPU LI LON!

No 'pi' with 'nanpa' followed by numbers is pretty well-established as a generalization of the fact that a string of numbers as a modifier does not take 'pi'. There have been comments on this several times on the forums and Facebook (usually with answering objections). The earliest specimens were ba...
