Re: T-shirts available!

This ad is 10 years old. I doubt that the items are still available or being made. The glow-in- the-dark models never appears, for example.

Re: mi jan Ale!

Napoli li lon ma lili Polita anu seme? kama sona tawa toki pona. ‘kama sina pona’ is hard to parse “ Become you well” or so, maybe. ‘Kama pona tawa sina’ is easier to understand. But you are coming in, not already in, and greeting, so ‘toki’ is your line and us insiders say “Wecome.”.There are simil...

Re: Rilke, "Dirait-on": translation

I don’t do poetry, so this is just about grammar, not scansion or rhetoric. I don’t know what you mean by the dash; it has been used in various ways by different people but the present use is not clear. "becoming water” or some such isn’t very clear eitheer but may work as poetry. ‘selo’ is goo...

Re: Word Idea For Triangle - Sanku

Time spent with tpis not wasted. It is clearly the most successful small language so you can learn a lot about what works (in general, not particular items, perhaps). On the other hand, it has many flaws (often in particular, but also in general) so that you can get an idea what to avoid. One thing ...

Re: Word Idea For Triangle - Sanku

Preaching to the choir. But the minimalism remains as defining tp. So, adding a new word takes some arguing, though I don’t know just who you have to convince. Most efforts have failed, as have most arguments to get rid of words, which ought to be easier. Good luck!

Re: nena suli pi suli pona li lon ala - Ain't no mountain high enough

The question about vocative + imperative is currently disputed. The full form is always safe, the abbreviated may be understood but misinterpreted.
‘ken e’ “cause to be able, enable, remove any forces against” ‘ken’ as a noun means, “freedom, etc.”

Re: Word Idea For Triangle - Sanku

Well, ‘sike’ is hard to do in a compact form. ‘Leko’ is slightly easier but isn’t a real tp word. Both of these have a fair number of other uses as well. But then ‘sanku’ could function for “wedge” and “slope” and probably several other things if it were introduced. So the basic problem is just that...

Re: Word Idea For Triangle - Sanku

Nice reasoning but it is not clear that we need a word for triangles at the basic level. Surely ‘ijo (or ‘sijelo' or some such word) pi poki si (tu wan)’ would do for those rare occasions when we need the word.

Re: nena suli pi suli pona li lon ala - Ain't no mountain high enough

Don’t need to repeat ‘suli’ ‘nena pi suli pona’ is "a high enough mountain” vocative comes before the sentence, so start with ‘jan lili o,’ (strange rule but apparently firm.) same throughout. ‘jan lili o’ probably not quite what ‘babe’ is about; maybe ‘jan suwi’ or so. prob ‘anpa pona’ for “lo...

Re: "When" in Toki Pona

Not knowing how the sentence goes on, I can only guess that this is coordinating and so a ‘la’ phrase.
