Re: Simplicity Quotes
Edits made above in bold. As to why a subject : if you have a having you have to have a haver as well as a havee. Snowing is another problem altogether. Hmm, seems like in both cases the subject is unknown or ill defined and the speaker isn't trying to call undue attention to it. "The horse is...

Re: Roman Numerals and Christmas Tree
Well, I shoulda said "at least decimal," since, if our cultural carriers are computer geeks, we need to go to hexadecimal and have words for dek, el, zen, trit, qat and quin -- or whatever they are calling them now. Unidecimal doesn't seem to help much. We also need -- for addresses again ...

Re: Roman Numerals and Christmas Tree
NIce one! But to the issue at hand. I don't think any proposal for "big" numbers can work for tp unless it meets these requirements: 1. it uses decimal place notation (need for the one place it is actually necessary: addresses, including dates) 2. uses a different syntax from that used for...

Re: Mneumonics for minimal pairs
Goes OK for a while, but Pokemon surely just confuses matters and "poki comes in a box" doesn't do anything. You might try "poke in the ribs" but that points both ways -- or neither. The etymology helps? 'poki' from 'poksi' Tok Pisan for "box" ("pig in a poke"...

Re: сидр, Russian/English/tp
Is this really Russian? It seems vaguely familiar from some minor British poetry course, though not to any detail (though some of the details are hazy here as well). I can't comment on the Russian or the RtE translation, only on the correspondence between the English and the tp. ma Alan, li pona taw...
