Re: Pale (minimalistic language without pronouns)

What kanji would you use since it is influenced by japanese? For example I would probably use 直 for lena (straight/direct) as well as 糸 for rope/thread/wire. Possibly even 棒 (long/hard) since there seems to be no equivalent in pale. For 'ma' I would use either ’ま’ (ma) or 達 (tachi) people would be 人...

Japanese inspired dialect of toki pona

I've always liked the look of kanji (and toki pona seems to be inspired by Japanese anyway) so I created a language that is mostly toki pona, but with some of elements of Japanese & with a few changes to reduce ambiguity a little. It's still a WIP. The grammar & vocabulary are the same as to...

Re: ꄲꀎ! sitelen pona text on the internet.

There isn't enough to use it as a logographic script, & the needed syllables aren't all represented either, so there would need to be some adaptation as is done for other scripts e.g. for Japanese 'li' would be り(ri) because Japanese has no 'l' sound. ꅿ ꆹ ꄪꇺ ꁈꆅ. would be 'ni li toki pona.' using...

Re: A range of possibilities

There is another good reason: I would like writing Japanese a lot. 新ら画え話語良使画カンシり良去私 しん ら してれん え とき とき ぽな けぺけん してれん カンシ リ ぽな たわ み sin la sitelen e toki toki pona kepeken sitelen Kansi li pona tawa mi. notice I used both 話 and 語 for 'toki'. The first is speak, the second is language. Using only hirag...

thai script for toki pona

Thai is an abugida meaning there is an inherent vowel after each consonant, 'a' at the end & 'o' otherwise. To change the vowel you write the appropriate vowel mark. ก would be 'ka' at the end of a word & 'ko' elsewhere. มม would be pronounced as 'moma'. To get mama you would write ละล. Spac...

Re: thai script for toki pona

It's just another script to play around with. I'm partial to sitelen Nijon myself, but, obviously I expect the latin alphabet to remain official.

Re: Left, right, numbers and "The Stuff of Thought"

poka open could be 'East' & poka pini could be 'west'. 'poka open' for the side the sun rises in (open) & 'poka pini' for the side the sun sets in (pini). You could use 'ma' for that instead of poka. To use that you need to know north & west though. Maybe poka open should be left, & ...

Re: Left, right, numbers and "The Stuff of Thought"

Well, I think the tendency is to use ‘swi’ and ‘anpa’ rather that ‘open’ and ‘pini’ for East and West. They don’t require knowing about North and South or about Left and right. For Left and Right, I think we have settled on ‘pok open’ for “left” and ‘poka pini’ for “right” for essentially the reaso...

Re: Left, right, numbers and "The Stuff of Thought"

this thread is the first I've ever heard of anpa/sewi being used for east/west. I usually see kama/open & pini. I assume the former is referring to the sun rising/setting, but I'm not aware of that being any kind standard. I think that would confuse some people. kama/open & pini are more obv...

Re: Left, right, numbers and "The Stuff of Thought"

I am familiar with lete/seli. I just meant some people could be confused by seeing sewi/anpa for east/west as opposed to north/south (even if they ARE already familiar with lete/seli). Every discussion I've seen about left/right, east/west the common suggestion has been ma+ for east/west & poka+...
