Re: Toki Pona and ISO 639

Well, of course there are several tp codes that need (or can use) custom keyboards, but tha has little to do wit tp. As for not being as useful, I am not sure what that is based on, since I use it for all sorts of things (not Philosophy nor Astrophysics yet but other fairly serious stuff). And, on t...

Re: On importance of "please" and "thank you"

“Please” is assumed with all requests. “Thank you” and “You’re welcome” are both ‘pona’. These are old established expressions. If you want to be fancy (but why?), you could say ‘sina wile la’ or ‘ni li pona tawa sina la’ for “Please”. But, as noted, all this has been dealt with from very early on.

Re: ma kili lili mi

Not just ‘sewi supa’ but ‘lon sewi supa’ “above the plain” New here? ‘taso’ in sentence first position is probably the oldest and most common use “but”. In this sense it cannot occur inside a sentence, so those uses are “only” (or, possibly, “alone”). I’m not sure that was what was meant. It’s hard ...

Re: mani anpa li pona

“bottom money” seems odd, but I don’t know how to say “guaranteed minimum income” or some such thing, so this probably works; “base income”, say. ‘seme’ forces a question mark at the end of the sentence. I am not sure you are posing a question and answering it or just say you want to talk about the ...

Many problems with this system, in addition to those you note. Basically, it is designed to fit tp.

Re: Jewish songs

Hava Nagila works nicely as a translation and as a song (I could scarcely keep from dancing). The only questions are 1) matters of punctuation, where it is not clear whether things are vocatives or subjects and the whole hortatory imperatives or ordinary imperatives. 2) the whole current confusion a...

Re: Jewish songs

Sorry, I took the ‘lon’s To be modifying ‘jan sewi mi’, a noun phrase, not the the vestigial verb phrase of which it was part. So it is my knowledge, not God, that is in earth and heaven?

Re: Has an official writing system been established?

Possibly true but it is still just a code.
