Re: toki pona tawa jan lili pi toki ala

Among other things, but it is hardly forthcoming and I haven't seen anything about tpsl in ages, including nothing from Sonja. (Signed conlangs was a fad a while ago but has faded a bit for lack of any interesting results --that are well-known at least.)

Re: Toki Pona Jan

Of course, in the Chinese case, there is also the historical development and the political unitynto justify the the dialect claim, even though the differences are greater than that between many separate languages ( French and Italian, certainly). Dialects may well develop in tp, if it is ever spoken...

Re: Toki Pona Jan

"on tp's dime" ancient telephone reference from when calls were paid for with current cash: tp's resources being used for someone else's advantage. Semicolon suspect Mato has his eye on 'pu' again. Pauses are notoriously hard features to legislate, stress patterns work better but are also ...

Re: Toki Pona Jan

A fair point for restrictive relative clauses, but less so for numbers if we are to use it at all in the world. We can live in Laoziville for a while, but eventually we have to deal with addresses and phone numbers and PINs and so on, not to mention money.

Re: Toki Pona Jan

@ ante: As have said, the line between suggesting changes to a language and constructing a new language is hard to draw. I guess my problem is that I have lost track of the connection between some of the suggestions and tp as it currently is. @misite: The grammar of tp is relatively unproblematic; s...

Oops! 'kama pona'. Maybe 'mi pakala e sitelen pi nimi mi'. I'm not sure how 'taw a' works here.

Re: Informal lectures on formal semantics

On the one hand, Bach has a good reputation and has done insightful work. On the other hand, semantics, in the sense implicit here, is highly formal, so this book, if it's title is serious, will be an overview, without much in the way of useful tools. That can be very useful, of course, if your inte...

Re: jan (anu soweli) lili pi tomo ala

toki ni li toki tawa mi. This message speaks to me. So far, so good. lon nasin la mi ni On the road, I am this. What are you ( no obvious referent for the pointer)? 'Lon nasin la' is suspect;we aren't too clear about prepositional phrases in la clauses, but generally avoid them, even though they ma...
