questions in double:sentences
Several times in toki pona, we use double:sentences (separated by a colon) to represent a single idea. I understand that the colon represents a punctuation, but how does it work if one or both parts of the sentence is a question. Does one side get a question mark? Do both? Spanish puts question mark...

Re: convention for lipu toki pi pana (letters)
«o lukin!» li tawa pona e mi. «o toki!» kin li pona. «o lukin!» li pona tawa mi. «o toki!» kin li pona. X li pona tawa Y == Y likes X, it's a well established & pretty official convention. Thank you. I was aware of that convention but forgot it. Looks like I got tawa and pona mixed up. Thanks f...

Re: Toki pona after two generations of erosion
kepeken --> kepeke --> kepe I am all for shortening kepeken . I never understood why we had a three syllable preposition. It is not helpful, and with so few words in toki pona, we have not yet exhausted all the two-syllable permutations. mi wile kep'en nimi <<kep'en>> kep'en ala nimi <<kepeken>>. I...

tenpo sitelen Tomaniki (Dominick's Calendar)
I was inspired by this thread to create a unique calendar for toki pona. I enjoyed the idea of using animals and elements to form calendar names; however, why follow the Chinese convention when we have animal names of our own? You would have to write <<tenpo sike pi akesi suli seli>> to say simply &...

Re: derivative of toki pona and Esperanto.
I would like to create a derivative of toki pona and Esperanto. It will must be precise like Esperanto, and as beautiful as toki pona. I think Esperanto sounds very bad, because there's prefix and suffix in the words who mess up the words in question, for example: la malbela instruistoj mangxas la ...

Re: tenpo sitelen Tomaniki (Dominick's Calendar)
After 2012, of course, we'll all be dead. But I want to sort this out so that I can write my New Year's Toki Pona speech "properly". Speaking of "New Year's", would this calendary necessarily cycle every January first? Looking at it again, it would make more sense to start it on...

Re: tenpo sitelen Tomaniki (Dominick's Calendar)
Hm.. It depends on if the modifier changes every year or every seven. Hmm... I think my original intent was to change every seven years, but either way works. Changing both gives it a sense of randomness and mystery, while changing just one seems to be more pragmatic and systemic. I don't know whic...

Welcome, jan Awi. Your usage of toki pona is great. It is better than when I speak.
