Re: Another way to say colors ?

Yes, but do we need to do this? (I note that no one -- even me -- has complained in three years about translating ‘kule (sama) jaki’ as “flame colored” rather than “shit colored”. and 'kule pi sama..’). To be sure, it is nice to have words for some off-prime colors, like brown and gray (though there...

Re: Word for "Complicated"

Yes, but something being simple is not good always either. tp just joins together two semantic fields we hold more or less separate. But in those joined fields ‘pona' occupies the “simple" and “good" areas and ‘ike’ the “bad" and “complex”. If you want to be more careful, you would, i...

Re: Word for "Complicated"

Right, but my response was exactly to your desire to not use ‘ike’ to mean”complex”. If you continue old usage here there is no need for even a phrase let alone a new word.

Re: Word for "Complicated"

Do you mean that we don’t have a way to describe various kinds of mechanical devices? This is true of any kind of thing generally (animals, say)or plants or rocks or weather) so not peculiar to mechanical things. In short, it is the problem of trying to be precise in toki pona, a problem to which th...

Re: Word for "Complicated"

Alas, more words—beyond a very small limit — mean that you no longer have to, There are a number of conlangs which are grammatically not more than an order of magnitude harder than to and which have plenty of words — and the tools for making as many more as you could want. Esperanto as a good example.

Re: mi jan Lane

kama pona! A good start, but tp sentences need overt subjects, so I assume ‘MI jan Tosi.’ (no ‘li’ with ‘mi’) ‘la’ phrases only go at the beginning of sentences, so period after ‘Tosi', the 'tenpo ni la mi ...’ or you can shift the ‘la’ phrase in front to a terminal ‘lon’ phrase: ‘mi lon ma.... Tosi...

Re: mi jan Lane

‘mokun’ =‘moku’ prob ‘supa lili pi monsi weka’ “stool with an absent butt”? ‘moku seli li lon supa moku’. (prep phrase can’t be subject.) ‘mm en mm LI wile moku’ no ‘e’ with prepositions, so ‘mm li tawa tomo lili poka kepeken open’ (prob ‘lupa’ would be more natural or ‘lupa open’) ‘tenpo ni LA’ (co...

Re: mi jan Lane

I would have out ‘seme’ right after ‘lukin’, closer to where it modifies. It is not a PPP, so shouldn’t be at the end. ‘moku kon pi kepeken toki pona. (modifier of more than one word). Not sure what you want here, but “smoking a pipe”(from the picture), “smoking a cigarette’ wuld be ‘moku kon pi kep...

Re: About date, days of week, and counting

Tidy number system; just too Eurocentric perhaps (but mine is totally English) and needs development into higher numbers.

‘mun’ means, basically, "bright light in the night sky” without regard to what it may be outside our immediate perception of it.

Re: Writing Toki Pona in the Hebrew alphabet

Since this is all just a code for tp, it doesn’t matter how well it correspond to the original (whatever that may be in this case) so long as it works for tp. You can even write it left to right or throw it Arabic or Japanese. Knock your lights out!
