Re: Drive

janKipo wrote:Wheels are not organs.
For the rest of your list, the relation between the two terms is very unclear.

A leg is an appendage (limb), not an organ.

Lingua Franca (Sabir)

Wondering if anyone has seen, read, etc Lingua Franca as seen here. https://minds.wisconsin.edu/bitstream/handle/1793/30751/go.html

As someone who has been studying Italian most of this year, I find this Italian base pidgin intriguing.

Re: Full and Empty

jan Natan o, I perceive "lupa" as "empty" (and "hollow"), too. "full" would be "lupa ala" then. "jo e ala" might work, too. "pona" If lupa = "empty", then lupa ala = "not empty", though that would not necessar...

Re: Drive

jan Tepan o, I drive away the animal. — mi weka e soweli. (also "mi tawa weka e soweli" and "mi lon weka e soweli" should work.) mi kama weka e soweli. — I'm starting to get rid of the animal. That would fit with how sona (et. al.) is used, e.g. mi sona (e ...) — I know ... mi so...

Re: Full and Empty

Agree jan Kipo, poki li ala would interpret as "the box is nothing" as opposed to "the box is empty". poki li jo e ala "the box contains nothing" works too, and maybe that is the better option to avoid any confusion. poki li jo e ali does seem a little like a Pandora's ...

Re: Full and Empty

jan Kipo, Is a filled hole still a hole? So poki lupa or poka ala could technically mean (a/the) empty cup ? But manbe the latter is the better in this case. Likewise poki li lupa or poki li ala could both mean "the/a cup is empty"? But would the latter make more sense to the broader commu...

Re: Drive

janpona en jan Kipo, I somehow skipped over lawa when perusing the dictionary. Not sure how. So yes, mi lawa e tomo tawa is pona tawa mi . As per jan Kipo, mi (tawa) weka e soweli is probably better said as mi kama weka e soweli , as I am not a herdmans in this instance. All I needed do for the last...

Re: Questions

jan Tepan en jan Kipo, I can see how using such a question "as one of disbelief", as jan Tepan mentions, could work over using them a standard question forms especially in spoken toki pona for, as jan Kipo points out, doing so would require all speaking and listening parties understand how...

Questions

Not sure if this is the right forum. If this is going over old information, happy to be steered to it (am not able to search for "questions" on forum as common word). Yes/no questions, using pu examples, are asked as: sina pu anu seme? Have you touched the official Toki Pona book? ona li m...

Drive

For example: I drive a car tawa = moving , would tawa = drive so that mi tawa e tomo tawa is I drive a car ? mi tawa e tomo tawa could translate as I am moving a/the car , or I am going towards a/the car (but that's just how toki pona goes). Another example: I drive away the animal Would could write...
