Re: A question to Buddhists
Toki! I would try and use "lupa" as "empty", "hollow". (I try to see "hole" as something "hollow".) "(outer) form" is "selo" according to the Official Dictionary. "something having form" should therefore be "ijo se...

Re: Perception of POS: what does it depend on?
There is no passive in tp, therefore in "ona li moku." "be eaten" is as legitimate a verb as "eat" There's no tense, therefore "an eater at some point in time" could be as good a noun as "food at some point in time". There is no "would" or ...

Re: Perception of POS: what does it depend on?
For me semantic differences between two cases of the same word in the same position in tp are more important than their POS also abstracting from sentence position. From what I gather, you have a similar approach. Names of POS are just a tool. The problem is that there are many groups of words. E.g....

Re: Perception of POS: what does it depend on?
2. I agree that distinction between a thing and a trait is very useful in tp, even more than in other languages. "edibility" is a trait, a characteristic of a thing / object. However, it behaves like a noun ("high edibility" and not "edibility products" for a noun phras...

Re: Perception of POS: what does it depend on?
1. I am not saying that grammar influences philosophy. That's why I wrote "followers" and not the known founders. Parmenides was Greek too. I've no idea if there was any Parmenides in more "verbial" languages. It's rather personal preference connected with philosophy that may inf...

Re: Three-way parts of speech (again)
This kind of marking helps a lot in case people want to speak metalinguistically but one is not sure what the other talks about. I'm afraid, however, that some specific terms in the theory of grammar depend on the language in which it was written. Different ways of understanding meet somewhere (as y...

Perception of POS: what does it depend on?
What are really POS in a language where they are not expressed in morphology and pretty much independent of syntax? Let's start from a tiny philosophical analysis, certainly not perfect : Noun - thing, object, subject (not grammatical here), state (treated as a whole and static), situation, somethin...

Symbols, identificators etc.
Hello, how would you say: "highway US 60" "road I-24" math "A point" "B plane" Do you think that symbols need to be introduced by a category? (nimi, sitelen) Probably they are imported as proper names or "proper signs". I guess, they will work differ...
