Re: A few haiku of Matsuo Basho in Toki Pona
Oh! So ‘wa taso’ is meant to modify ‘’kasi anpa’’ not be the object of ‘lon’. But then it should be after it somehwere )after ‘kasi anpa’’ seems too soon, but probably is best, as after ‘’tenpo lete taso’ can get misinterpeted). Otherwise you are saying that esistence is the only prperty of the gras...

Re: A few haiku of Matsuo Basho in Toki Pona
In item 1, the subject of the secondclause. is' mi wan taso’ not just ‘mi’, so a ‘li’ is required before ‘tawa’. This screws up the metre and so requires some rewriting.(could just drop ‘wan’, since ‘taso’ already means “alone”). Number three doesn;t seem to work. at all, “Every thing is the existen...

Re: Left, right, numbers and "The Stuff of Thought"
The amazing thing about the Abos with their pure irectional system is that thye can pull it off even away from their homeland, in cow-mapped cities and even other hemisphere. Local systems like the Egyptian Nile one are ommon in most uniform areas, like Koka and Diamond in Oahu and seaward and shrar...

Re: Left, right, numbers and "The Stuff of Thought"
In fact, “the sun rises” and “the sun sets” are. pretty universals, since they are apparent to sight in almost all environments. “The sun starts” or even “the day starts” are less obvious and common. Still, as you say, nothing is really fixed in spite of the usefulness of familiarity, so go ahead ah...

Re: Left, right, numbers and "The Stuff of Thought"
Good question. And the answer , of course, is that it ha been over and over. I’ve only been involved for the last 15 years, but I have seen all the points you rise -- and then a few -- over and over. The writing solution for left and right seems to ahve been the turning point, with more and more eop...

Re: Mi sin li toki pona
Face-to-face is hard to do, since there aren’t many faces and they are spread out over the world. Writing a lot of stuff here and at tokipona and laearn atoki pona on. Facebook oor on various groups on propriietary media are all possible, As for home study (and especially grammar, since vocab doesn’...

Re: Left, right, numbers and "The Stuff of Thought"
If you want to work from the underlying base of tp, it is probably a good idea to get rid of the myths and go with what is actually there. A scan of the vocabulary shows that it is not more primitive than middle civilizations (‘mani’, esun’, etc.) , that it is not a positive language (one “good”, tw...

Re: Mi sin li toki pona
kama pona kin Some corrections. ‘Kijs’ is not a tp name since all tp words end in vowels. There is an app on tokipona.org that produces at least one acceptable name. “I am ‘jan Kijs’” is surely not what you mwant to say (subject ‘mi’ predicate ‘nimi jan Kijs’”, which is just the name ‘jan Kijes’ of ...

Re: Left, right, numbers and "The Stuff of Thought"
I’m not clear what ‘sewi’/‘anpa’ have to do with North and South -- conventional map reading? In any case, ‘open’ and ‘pini’ seem clearly required for “left: and “right”, so something else is required for “East” and “West”, to avoid confusion. ‘anpa’ and ‘sewi’ seem natural to Westerners, who use th...
