Re: Is "poka" a spatial noun only or can it be a preposition too?

What would preposition "sewi" mean? "poka" exists because we want to have "with", one of the more basic prepositions present in almost all languages (if not all), it was chosen to reduce word count, since it would have been "kan". There is no preposition that ...

Re: Adverb glyph question

As for sitelen sitelen, "li" encloses adverbs and modal+verbs as well. "e" encompasses the DO and "pi" encompasses its phrase. That's useful for differentiating multiple pi-phrases from nested pi-phrases and separating a pi-phrase from other modifiers after it e.g. jan ...

Re: Is "poka" a spatial noun only or can it be a preposition too?

The problem (or the solution) is that Lope still uses "poka" as a preposition, albeit with the same meaning as "lon poka (pi)". Pije, on the other side disapproves completely the usage of poka as preposition and says that "lon poka (pi)" is how you translate "with&...

Re: Adverb glyph question

I don't use sitelen pona, but if I used, I would certainly combine moku and lili in "mi moku lili e kili". But not in "mi wile moku e kili." obviously. I'd surely write jan pona lili as either jan-lili jaki or jan lili jaki (not having "-" means writing in sequence, ins...

Re: Is "poka" a spatial noun only or can it be a preposition too?

And if it is a preposition, how different is it from "lon poka (pi)"? "mi pali e tomo mi poka sina." (if possible) = "mi pali e tomo mi lon poka sina."? "mi musi poka sina." = "mi musi lon poka sina."? For me this is valid, but by the old lessons I n...

Re: la phrases

jan Lope o, toki! pona tawa sina. Maybe it was a mistake from my part to say it's in accordance with pu. It's actually in accordance with Sonja. But I don't distinguish those two entities in regard to toki pona guidance. The ambiguity may be a strong argument for you, but for me the noun reading is ...

Re: la phrases

jan Lope o, toki! I wasn't referring to the position of a preposition related to its object (if it's a pre- or postposition). But the position of a preposition phrase (prep + prep object) in a sentence. In my view the only positions a preposition can't be are as subject and object (direct or indirec...

Re: la phrases

jan Lope o, toki! I think we agree in more stuff than I expected. There isn't so much effort to be put on just putting a preposition on another position, without even changing its meaning. Just put it there. End. "la" is not defined in terms of "lon" when not a conditional. It ha...

Re: la phrases

jan Lope o, toki! toki sina ni li pona mute tawa mi. mi kama sona mute tan toki ni. mi wile e ni: sina kin li kama sona. What was the error Sonja confirmed? What about the sentence "ilo moku li lili ala lili." translated as "Is the spoon small?" shouldn't that mean "Does the...

Re: la phrases

I have lost interest in following your personal toki nasa as it is willingly un-pu. Wow, that was harsh. I don't have proof that he uses un-pu grammar. He continues replying using pu rules. Maybe the way he expresses them is different, but I think there's no rule that can't be implied by it. Maybe ...
