Re: Toki Pona Flash Cards Game
Milk is a kind of white liquid, but pulling someone's leg is not fooling him. I'm saying that defining "telo walo" as "milk" is just as far from the meaning of the Toki Pona words. Even at its most specific, "telo walo" still only means "white liquid". It cou...

Re: Toki Pona Flash Cards Game
What I'm saying is not the same as just aggressively dropping modifiers. I'm saying that using idioms is "ike". Idioms are arbitrary. They add complexity to a language. How can a language be called "simple" if it has 20 times more idioms than it has words?!? In my opinion, "...

Re: Toki Pona Flash Cards Game
Next we just need to add the 1000-2000 two and three word phrases that require memorization, from "telo nasa" to "kin la". ni li ike mute. toki pona li ala ni. You're kidding, I hope. Otherwise, you're missing the first feature of Toki Pona: a small vocabulary. Lists of multi-wo...

Re: A range of possibilities
A system which has kanji, hirigana and katakana is much more complex ("ike mute mute") than a system with only one set of kana.
I like this system:

because it actually uses FEWER symbols than the latin-based Toki Pona alphabet.

Re: A range of possibilities
Actually, there is... but it was just something I was playing with. I called it "hó ni" (toki pona). I haven't messed with it in months though. Syllables were consonant-vowel, using eight consonants and five vowels with three tones. I'd have to add something else to handle the new words th...

Re: sin pi toki nanpa tan jan Sonja
jan Kipo, In your last post you claim that "nanpa" doesn't need "pi" to create a grouping, and then you go on and interpret the example as though it were not a group. It looks as though you're contradicting yourself. What exactly are you trying to say? Please show a few straightf...

Re: sin pi toki nanpa tan jan Sonja
but if nanpa is not in a position of noun, it is an ordinal I don't think that's quite accurate. mi kama sona e sona nanpa. (I'm learning mathematics. Shouldn't take long in Toki Pona.) Here "nanpa" is an adjective but not an ordinal. mi nanpa e meli pi pona lukin. (I'm counting beautiful...
