Re: This forum went down for about a month

Thanks for setting up a mailing list! (By the way, isn't the idea behing Google Groups that ou have a mailing list and a forum?)

But, how are people supposed to find this mailing list? As many toki pona pages as possible should point to it.

Re: This forum went down for about a month

I would really like to have our upcoming discussions as a mailing list, too. So I'm in favour of a google group. And please don't create subtopics. One big mailing list is sufficient in my opinion. The community and its communication traffic is small after all.

Re: New proposal of alphabet with PC fonts

I think it is sensible to have one glyph per syllable rather than per (Latin) letter. Moreover, I like the idea of making an "n" at the end of a syllable a diacritic mark.

Re: Updated lessons

I don't think that this would work. Knight's book consists of dozens of pages. You may collect many comments for each page, and follow-ups to each comment. Working on a book in a web forum is not feasible. Of course you're free to give it a try, but I won't do that.

Re: Updated lessons

Technically, WikiBooks is a good place for such a project. However, its admins are non-Toki-Pona people, so you cannot establish a board of editors there. This is probably not a big deal because I don't expect conflicts, but if there are any, the project has got a problem. Be that as it may, someone...

Re: Updated lessons

Unfortunately, I must give up this proposed Christmas project. I tried to extract the Wiki pages in a format that can be processed further but I have not found a way. And this was the thing that motivated me. ;-) I still think that this is the way to go: Put Knight's book in Wiki form on the net (fi...

Re: Updated lessons

I like your basic idea of using a wiki to update jan Pije's lessons. I will help as my time permits. I would suggest adding an appendix for idioms and common use words which we agree upon. I use jan Kipo's spreadsheets to look up expressions I don't know. Example entries could include: [...] Absolu...

Re: Updated lessons

My plan is to have special markup for doubtful things that should be discussed on the respective discussion page. It will be highlighted (e.g. bold red). Once there is some sort of agreement, the markup is removed. I hope that we find a way to reach consensus everytime. :D

Re: Updated lessons

I will back-translate into English of course! I hope that I can identify the original English paragraphs, so that it is copy-n-paste mostly.

Re: Updated lessons

There are very many -- mostly minor -- flaws that I've found. My starting point would be the German edition because I think that it has been revised already. The German edition already contains a comprehensive word list, which distinguishes between the different word classes. My general attitude is ...
