Re: Left, right, numbers and "The Stuff of Thought"
You are an arch-empiricist and -pragmatist aren't you? Also as (I assume) a long-time adherent of toki pona, somewhat of a conservative in this context. I, on the other hand, am far more the introspective philosopher, and as a less-deeply-connected neophyte, more interested in (perhaps radical and i...

Re: Left, right, numbers and "The Stuff of Thought"
Bearing in mind that I'm new to this... Trying to think about this with as little cultural pollution as possible, it seems to me that East/West ought to explicitly reference 'suno'. 'open/pini suno' and 'sewi/anpa suno' equally make sense to me. Approaching north/south and left/right from the pseudo...

Re: A question to Buddhists
I think I would riff off 'ijo ala'. 'o kama jo e ijo ala li lon e [insa pi] lawa sina' Come to have no-thing at [inside of] your mind (imperative):- Empty your mind! (I think - I'm still learning.) I wonder also whether 'poki' has a role to play here. 'o kama e ni: lawa sina li lon e poki pi ijo ala...

Re: mani anpa li pona
toki! My instinct would be to use 'mani supa' - base money. 'mani noka' makes some sense to me too, but it reads to me more like 'at the foot/base of' than 'that upon which [something] is set or based'. I agree that 'mani anpa' doesn't seem to fit. One of the meanings listed in jan Pije's dictionary...

Re: toki! mi jan Kaja
jan Kipo o, toki! Thanks for the feedback. I'm loathe to hijack jan Kaja's thread, but since you've gone to the effort, let's see if we can get this straight. I'm sure I have got the construction wrong in places, so much so perhaps that I think you have misunderstood what I was trying to say, which ...

Re: Extremely large numbers.
And now it occurs to me that 'suli' might be a better thousand tag than 'kulupu'.

jan Kipo o, toki! ona li pona tawa mi e ni: sina toki tawa mi. It has occurred to me that 'lon ala' might be better for imaginary numbers - except that then you have ambiguity between 'lon (ala ...)' and '(lon ala) ... '. Perhaps 'en (nanpa) lon ala pi ...' ? As I said, I'm new to toki pona, so the ...
